Young at Heart Luncheon 2024

Each year, the Heart of the City Foundation is honored to host or sponsor the Young at Heart's monthly lunch, typically held in March. This gathering brings together our mature Covenant Partners, embodying the spirit of Hebrews 10:24-25 {Voice}: Let us consider how to inspire each other to greater love and to righteous deeds, [25] not forgetting to gather as a community, as some have forgotten, but encouraging each other, especially as the day of His return approaches.

These verses inspire us towards love and good deeds while remembering to gather as a community.

The Young at Heart luncheon is a significant aspect of our Senior Ministry at First Presbyterian Church of Orlando. Although some may assume these seasoned believers have it all figured out, they are well aware that everyone needs encouragement to stay on track and avoid feelings of loneliness or discouragement.

At this year's gathering, we enjoyed hearing from Ruth Shrigley, one of the Young at Heart members. Ruth shared her reasons for supporting two different Heart of the City Foundation funds: one aiding seminarians and another assisting women recovering from human trafficking. Her generosity stems from her desire to be part of God's call for believers to be fruitful and multiply Christian culture.

Additionally, we were joined by one of our trustees, Tami Kaiser. Our trustees devote their lives to the Foundation and God's kingdom by offering their Leadership, Influence, Finances, and Expertise. Tami shared her joy in guiding the Foundation towards building a lasting endowment.

Foundation Director Dennis Brockman shared how we will celebrate our 45th anniversary as a Foundation. He reported that we took time this summer to gather a number of our trustees together to refresh our vision, purpose, mission, and values. Without changing who we are or our purpose, we came up with fresh words to describe us. It remains our reason for existing to serve those who want to leave a legacy of Christian generosity. Heart of the City Foundation offers Covenant Partners a trusted and Christ-centered way to steward their legacy gifts, helping them make a difference in the world that will last forever.

We wanted to share this experience with you because, as the Foundation, we represent those who pray for us, contribute to our operations, and share resources that establish funds. These funds allow us to create grants for our church, city, and even the world, embodying the heart of our city and beyond. We hope this uplifts you as much as it does us.
