Frequently Asked Questions

Missions

The Mission Committee provides grants to Christ-centered mission organizations enabling ministries, both locally and abroad, to demonstrate the love of Christ by addressing vital community needs

Does the foundation focus on a certain type of mission work?

The foundation manages endowed funds, some of which are restricted to a specific purpose. Some of the organizations to which we have made grants work in the areas of human trafficking, homelessness, health care, and leadership development.

How often can an organization apply for/receive a grant?

You can apply for a grant at any time. Because our funds are limited, we usually restrict an organization’s frequency. We do not want organizations dependent on us for financial viability, so if you have received grants in consecutive years, we request that you wait a year.

Do you have to have received a grant to apply for another?

No. We welcome the opportunity to learn about new organizations doing Christ-centered work.

Do you provide sponsorships or assist with operating costs?

Our preference is to provide grants that allow an organization to do focused work to enhance their ministry, to do something they otherwise would not be able to do. That would include initiating new projects, supporting further development of current work, or purchasing necessary equipment.

Do you have to have certain credentials?

We do ask that your organization be a 501(c)3 and have a working board of directors.

Do you have to be affiliated with the First Presbyterian Church of Orlando?

No, we provide grants to many different organizations, locally and even internationally.

We do evaluate our giving through the lens of the church’s values (Truth, The City, Church Family, Relentless Generosity and Generational Faithfulness); mission (Be loved/love the city and Know truth/live truth), and strategic priorities (We create a culture of engagement where our actions preserve our values, We cultivate relationships of radical affection and accountability with one another and We strengthen and prepare one another to live missionally in family, vocation, and neighborhood).

Do you have to report on how the funds are used?

Yes. Our grant application requires that you provide documentation that the funds were used in alignment with your request.

Do you make grants for consecutive years?

Rarely.
